Banner Backgrounds are rectangular textures that are used to form the background of a player's Banner. These textures are often colorful and can feature many things, from simple patterns, geometric shapes, Freelancers and other things in that vein. Backgrounds can be obtained in many different ways, primarily in Loot Matrices, but also through Events, Seasons and promotional means.
